All printers (except Legacy) are capable of being fully enclosed to print ABS but can just as easily print PLA, PETG, or even Nylon. All printers in the Voron lineup are designed to use a Raspberry Pi linked to one or more motor controller board(s) to manage all of the printer functions and interface controls. Talk to literally anybody at E3D and they will tell you all the nuances. I feel like we are at a critical point where we’re getting to a place where we have a design locked in that works. We’re trying not to do things like, oh, let’s release a new version, just because it’s a new year. And everybody was looking at their Ender 3 going, I wish that printed faster.

VORON Design does not sell anything but releases all of their designs under the GPLv3 open source license. So currently i have a ebb42 on the toolhead and i want to use a beacon3d bed scanner, so the question arises how to hook everything up as best as possible. Unfortunately the beacon is only available in a usb configuration, so daisy chain to the canbus isn't possible. I wonder if I can do something about it, because I have a whole bunch of time in my hands right now. I wouldn’t know where to start about deciphering like Misumi part numbers for extrusions. Voron started as a page on Reddit and some Slack channels with raw files on GitHub. We moved to Discord and a little while later Voron exploded on popularity but little changed for how we supported the builders. Over last few years we would get periodic reports that for different reasons folks struggled with the rapid pace and intertwined conversations on Discord. We didn’t have a good option for them, until now.
There’s a lot of people running VORON tool heads on their third-party printers. We have a humongous mod community where people modify their printers with VORON parts or they create new parts for VORON printers. Some of their stuff ends up in the mainline releases.
Depending on the printer, linear rails (MGN7, MGN9, MGN12) or linear rods may be used along the X, Y, and/or Z axes. Gates 6mm and/or 9mm belts are used for movement; genuine Gates Unitta belts are recommended over generic versions for improved reliability and performance. A simple stack of flanged F695 bearings are often used as smooth belt idlers, as the bearings are much larger than the more common GT2 idlers. There were a few things that I wasn’t going to open source, especially the big industrial machine that I did as the last thing. Kept that in my back pocket, in case, there was an IP. Galileo is the newest extruder designed to fit on an Afterburner toolhead. It is based on the Orbiter extruder and incorporates a planetary gear reduction to allow a smaller housing size and even smaller motor to be used in order to reduce weight. Nightwatch is the Clockwork2 repackaged for the smaller size needed by the Voron Zero printer. Nightwatch is available as a standalone extruder for Bowden setups. Mini Stealthburner refers to the V0.2 toolhead with a built-in direct-drive extruder.
